2024, audio video installation by Pipilotti Rist

is an all-encompassing artwork in the heart of Ekebergparken, Oslo’s iconic sculpture park. Over 25,000 LEDs spread across 3,600 circuit boards, each encased in hand-crafted shells suspended from 400 steel wires connected to a net seven meters above the forest floor. This structure create a canopy of light, transforming the forest into a dynamic yet serene environment, visible in daylight, twilight, and nighttime.

The LEDs display a constantly evolving video sequence, fragmented yet fluid — like an exploded, three-dimensional screen. Each LED represents a small segment of the video, synchronised with four original music compositions, heightening the sensory experience. Viewers are invited to step into this shifting landscape, becoming part of the artwork as it unfolds.

The installation runs daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, looping every 25 minutes. The LED brightness adjusts in sync with the sun, creating a constantly evolving atmosphere throughout the year.

Concept and curatorial lead Ina Johannesen Dibley.

Sound collaboration Roland Widmer (synthesizers, sound design, recording & mixing), Seraphin Basedau (piano), Alex Boëthius (wind chime), Nike Dreyer (vocals & flute)
